Beginners who had just started playing cricket now this blog is very useful for them because in this blog we will share some important Tips and Tricks related to How to take a proper stance in Cricket. In batting your basics must be strong because if your basics are weak you will face lots of problems while batting.
Beginners don’t have proper knowledge on how to take a stance in Cricket due to this they struggle a lot as a batsman. The stance is an important factor in your batting because if you don’t know how to stand on a cricket pitch while batting then you are not a good batsman. If you are also facing some problem then don’t worry you will definitely find improvement in your stance just follow our tips and tricks.
1. Toes in Line
The first important thing when you take a stance in Cricket you must see that your toes must be in line. A question may arise in your mind that in which line your toes must be? To take a proper toe in line you have to take a guard of stumps. Batsman takes guard to mark a proper line you can take leg stump guard or middle stump guard.
You must have seen in a cricket match that batsman shows fingers towards the umpire while taking guard so what it actually means?
- If a batsman is showing one finger to the umpire then it means he will take leg stump guard.
- If the batsman is showing two fingers towards the umpire then it means he will take the middle stump guard.
Choose any one stump to take guard in which you feel comfortable.
2. Distance Between Both Legs
Every beginner may arise a question that how much distance must have between both legs. The distance between legs is not fixed also not written in any books about the distance scale. To stand properly with leg distance then you see your shoulder weight. The distance between both legs must be equal to the Shoulder weight.
If you extend your legs more than shoulder weight then you are standing in the wrong stance. Small things can make a big impact on your batting performance. Just you have to keep in your mind that your leg’s weight must be similar to shoulder weight.
3. Knee Flexible
If you are a batsman then your knee must be more flexible. I had seen many batsmen when they go for batting stand straight no flexibility in both legs. But they face difficulties while playing shots because there is no flexibility, they can’t transfer bodyweight easily on the front foot or back front as per their need. Also, they struggle to judge the proper line and length of the ball.
So, what are the benefits of being knee flexible?
- As a batsman, you can easily transfer your body weight on Front foot or Back foot.
- You will also find improvement in judging the line and length of the ball.
- By using this technique, you can play shots in every corner of the ground.
4. Backlift
A backlift is a very important aspect of your batting. If you want to be a good hitter as a batsman then your back lift must be high. I have seen many beginners when they go for batting, they didn’t lift bat high. Their bat is on the ground.
So, if you bat with no backlift you will face trouble in generating power in every shot.
- As a batsman, you have to see that your back lift is proper and the face of the bat can be in between wicket-keeper to second slip.
- When you take a back lift your bat should not be straight it must be a little bit rotate.
- Many international cricketers play by using these techniques.
5. Body Position
Body position is an important part of the stance but many batsmen ignore it. If you ignore body position it will affect your batting performance and your stand will be Wrong.
How is your body position should be?
- The first thing is your head must be in the line with shoulders and your eyes must be on bowlers.
- While batting only one shoulder must be visible if the second shoulder is also visible then your standing is wrong.
- Will suggest you stand in front of the mirror and see your head position, Shoulder, and back lift.
- Once you had mastered you’ll find improvement in your batting performance.
